The Suite Autumn Festival aims to expand the discourse on baroque and baroque-inspired music for youth pianists. One of our goals is to bring teachers, students, and parents/guardians to an awareness of the essential nature of the baroque era as it informs the entire history of the piano.
Many modern and contemporary composers found inspiration in baroque dance forms, inventions, toccatas, and more. There is a particularly rich history of female composers, and a growing number of individuals who are writing for the piano - we champion a wide, diverse array of composers. Indeed, we invite entries to include the best teaching works by the Bach family, especially JS Bach, CPE Bach, and JC Bach, as well as a wider array of composers - notably Elisabetta da Gambarini, Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, and others.
